General Notes: Husband - John Doutt
He and wife came to Venango County, PA, and settled on a farm near Springville about 1853. Here they resided until the descovery of petroleum, when they sold their farm and removed to a tract on Big Sandy, which became known as the Doutt homestead.
He had a common school education and learned the trade of carpenter, which he followed nine years. In 1852 he removed to the vicinity of Springville, Venango County, and in 1865 took up his residence on a farm in Sandy Creek township. He was a school director and road commissioner in the township and Democratic in politics.
