The earliest record of this branch is of William Douglas, born in Scotland, who sailed to America with seven sons. On the long voyage over he died and was buried at sea. The family settled in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where they remained several years. The family home was near what later became Douglas Station on the Pittsburgh & McKeesport railroad.
