General Notes: Husband - Joseph "Trapper Joseph" Emery

He was a native of New Jersey, of Dutch extraction. In 1807 he removed to what is now Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, bringing with him his father, and settled close to the Butler County line. He was a fifer in a company from this part of the State in the War of 1812, and served at Erie with his command. The balance of his life was spent upon his farm on the Lawrence County line, where he was engaged in farming and trapping, being one of the well known hunters of pioneer days.
