General Notes: Husband - John McGaughey Irwin
He went to the Civil War at the beginning and was there until after the close. He was in Co. A. 105th Reg. Pa. Vol. Inf., for two years. He then served three years in Co. G, 19th Pa. Cav. One year of this service was after the war was over. He was wounded at Gettysburg, and while serving in the cavalry his horse fell, dislocating and smashing his shoulder and ankle.
After marriage he and his wife lived in South Mahoning township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. They moved to Nebraska, but returned in a few years and lived most of the time afterward near Punxsutawney. He was a farmer and mason.
