He was educated in the public schools, and spent his life engaged in agriculture. He was a Republican, and an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church, filling the various official positions.
General Notes: Wife - Ruth Sophia Dorchester
Her parents died when she was four years old and she was raised by her grandparents Tuttle, who were early settlers of Mercer county and two of the first four to form a Methodist church in their neighborhood.
