General Notes: Husband - Alvan Donnan


He was born and reared in Washington County, Pennsylvania, and attended the Washington and Jefferson College, from which he graduated in 1875. He studied law with his brother, John W. Donnan, and was admitted to the Washington bar in January, 1877. He then entered upon the practice of his profession with his brother under the firm name of John W. and A. Donnan, which firm was succeeded by Donnans & Brownson, who were eventually succeeded by Donnans, Brownson & Miller. Mr. Donnan was a director of the Citizens' National Bank. He was a member of the Second United Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member of the Board of Sessions.
