General Notes: Husband - John Hall Donaldson
John Hall Donaldson was born Sept. 28, 1847, in Rockland township, died March 25, 1916, at his home near Nickleville, after an illness of several years. His case was a very peculiar and a pitiful one. He did not seem to suffer much pain, but was in most ways like a child. During the last few years he knew no one, not even the members of his own family. To the many who knew him in former years, it seemed only his earthly tabernacle remained. The saddest part of his experience was during those years when he realized his weakness which so very slowly and gradually came upon him. Mr. Donaldson was very active in public affairs in the church and in the home until he became helpless in mind and body. At the age of 22 he was converted and united with this church which he faithfully served. He acted as deacon and Sunday School superintendent and was one of our ablest men in offering public prayer. He also served Richland township as school director several years. We can only rejoice that the Father above has taken him to Himself and released his clouded condition. His wife and family deserve mention for the kind care they extended to this husband and father during his years of illness. He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Jane Nickle. Also by two daughters and four sons: Mrs. Sylvia Levier, Bayonne, N. J., Homer, Archie, Conewango Valley, N. Y.; Nellie, Ernest, Austin, at home. Two sisters: Miss Elma, missionary in Dehra Dun, India; Newton Donaldson, D. D. Huntingdon, W. Va. Also four grandchildren. Short services in the home were followed by more extended services in the church, conducted by our pastor, Rev. Marlowe.
