General Notes: Husband - J. A. Dittman
The public schools of St. Petersburg, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, afforded him his educational privileges, and when his school days were over he worked at day labor at that place for some time. Later his energies were devoted to the oil business, and in his undertakings he met with a fair degree of success. Politically Mr. Dittman followed in the footsteps of his father, always supporting the Democratic party by his ballot, and he was called upon to serve in several important official positions, being justice of the peace eight years, town treasurer eight years, and a member of the school board. On August 26, 1893, he was appointed postmaster of St. Petersburg to succeed A. T. Mason. It was a fourth-class office. He was a prominent member of Arcuna Lodge No. 413, K. P.; Carroll Tent No. 30, K. O. T. M.; and Coral Council, No. 306, J. O. A. M.
