General Notes: Husband - George Leslie Vance
His education was acquired in the public school near his home, and he assisted his father on the farm during his spare hours. In April, 1881, he came to New Sewickley township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, to take charge of a one-hundred-acre farm there, and he became the owner of this and lived there for over thirty years. In 1889 he erected a large barn, and in 1903 a new modern farm house. He cultivated general produce, was also a stock raiser and to some extent ran a dairy and fruit farm. He was a man of great business ability, and was treasurer and director of the Brush Creek Valley Telephone Company. He was a Prohibitionist in politics and served twice as supervisor. He and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian Church, in which he served as elder for a period of thirty years.
