General Notes: Husband - Hiram Gates Eddy

His education was received in the Warren, Pennsylvania, public schools. Mr. Thomas Struthers, his uncle, started and owned the first street railroad of Warren. The cars were drawn by horses and two cars ran from the Pennsylvania & Erie depot to Mr. Struthers' farm on the east side. These two cars had for conductors George Wetmore and Hiram G. Eddy. The cars lacked sufficient patronage and were discontinued. After this Mr. Eddy was deputy express agent at Sheffield under Horton Crary & Company for about two years, when he entered the grocery store of Z. E. Eddy & Company, Mr. Hiram G. Eddy and William Scott being the company. Shortly after his marriage Z. E. and Hiram G. Eddy purchased the interest of William Scott, and the store under the name of "Z. E. & H. G. Eddy" was moved to 305 Second street, which building was owned by their father, Isaac S. Eddy. After a few years they retired from the grocery business and Mr. Eddy devoted himself then to real estate and oil property. In 1893 Mr. Eddy held for six months a position in the admission department of the World's Columbian Exposition at Chicago.

He and his family were all members of the First Presbyterian Church, and were active workers. Mr. Eddy was usher and librarian for years, and clerk of the board of trustees for a number of years. Mrs. Eddy was a teacher in the primary department for seven years. Miss Olive G. Eddy conducted mission study classes, assisted in primary work, and was for two years secretary of the "Ladies' Aid."
