General Notes: Husband - Rev. William Alexander, D.D.
He graduated from Jefferson College, Pennsylvania, in 1858, and from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1861; became pastor of the Newbury Church, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the same year; was subsequently pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Beloit, Wisconsin, and was called in 1869 to the church in San Jose, California. In 1871 he became president of City College in San Francisco, and two years later embarked with Dr. Scott in founding, under the auspices of the synod of the Pacific, a theological seminary of the Presbyterian Church, at San Francisco, California, of which institution he became a professor. He received the degree of D. D., from Wooster University in 1876.
