General Notes: Husband - William Reed Dennison
He was a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and the Pittsburgh Law School, and was admitted to the bar in 1906. He was then identified with much important litigation in the county courts and many times proved his legal ability. He was active in politics and during 1907 and 1908 was chairman of the Democratic County Committee. In November, 1904, he was elected county auditor and in the spring of 1908 he was again nominated for the office. He maintained offices at No. 533 in the Washington Trust Building.
He received his grammar and high school education in Claysville, Washington County, Pennsylvania, and in 1897 enrolled at Washington and Jefferson College, where he secured his degree of Bachelor of Science in 1904. He then entered the University of Pittsburgh, and was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Laws in 1906. He was admitted to practice in the local courts soon afterwards; in the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, September 26, 1915; in the United States District Court, December 29, 1915; in Pennsylvania Superior Court, April 17, 1928; and in the United States Supreme Court, October 10, 1932. He practiced in Washington County beginning in 1906.
He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, and was on the board of elders. An active Democrat, he served as county auditor in 1906 and 1907, and was referee in bankruptcy from his appointment, December 29, 1915. He was affiliated with Friendship Council No. 201, Junior Order United American Mechanics, and was also a member of the Washington County Bar Association, and a director of the Equitable Building and Loan Association of Washington, Pennsylvania.
