General Notes: Husband - Samuel B. Alexander
He grew up in Fairview township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, and at the age of twenty-three enlisted in Company A, One Hundred and Thirty-ninth Pennsylvania Volunteers, and participated in all the engagements from Antietam to Spottsylvania, where, on May 12, he received a wound in the left wrist, which necessitated the amputation of his hand. After his return he was engaged in various occupations until 1873, when he located upon his present farm. He served as school director and tax collector for several years. In 1875 he was elected county treasurer, and was the first treasurer to fill the three years' term.
