During the year 1816, James Dugan and his family (consisting of his wife, and his children named William, James, Jr., Robert, and Eliza J.) emigrated from County Down, Ireland, and landed at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were residents of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, for one year, of Pittsburgh two years, and, in 1839, came to Butler County, and located permanently in Marion Township.
