General Notes: Husband - Alexander De Armit
He was a soldier in the Civil War from Pennsylvania having enlisted in Philadelphia in the 16th P. C., and was killed in battle. By occupation he was a carriage builder, and at his death his wife was left with seven children, which she reared in Hollidaysburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania.
He was a blacksmith by trade. Until 1861 Mr. De Armit acted and voted with the Democratic party but after that date with the Republican. He served in the Civil War as a commissioned officer of the Sixteenth Pennsylvania Cavalry, Colonel J. Irwin Gregg.
