Beatrice E. Heckathorne
Beatrice E. Heckathorne, 62, of 9 E. Bissell Ave. died at 11:30 am Thursday in her home, following a sudden ill-ness.
Born June 13, 1927, in Oil City, she was a daughter of Charles and Laura Boyd Down-ing.
She lived her entire life in the Oil City area.
Mrs. Heckathorne was form-erly employed at Raymond Dry Cleaning and Kroger market, both in Oil City. She most recently worked as a custodian for Oil City Area School Dis-trict, retiring in 1973 after 12 years of service.
She was married October 5, 1946, to John B. Heckathorne, who survives.
Mrs. Heckathorne attended Plumer United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Oil City Women of the Moose.
Surviving in addition to her husband are four daughters, Mrs. Larry (Carol Jean) McIn-tyre of Titusville, Mrs. James (Linda) Wangelin of Spring Lakes, N.C., Mrs. Larry (Dot-tie Lou) Greene of Franklin and Mrs. Daniel (Jackie) Beach of Shreveport, La.; three sons, John B. Heckathorne Jr. of Franklin, Russell R. Hecka-thorne of Kennerdell and David Charles Heckathorne of Oil City; and 21 grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Harry Downing of Cranberry, Howard Downing of Titusville and F. Kenneth Downing of Rouseville; and two sisters, Mrs. John (Lillian) Current of Ava, Mo., and Mrs. Ruth Shontz of Oil City.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were two brothers, Robert Downing and Charles Downing.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 pm Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Sunday in the Jonathan H. Hutchinson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be con-ducted at 2:30 pm Monday in the funeral home. Rev. Donald Henderson, pastor of the Be-thel/Plumer United Methodist Charge, will officiate.
Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery.
The family suggests memori-als may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County or to Plumer United Methodist Church.
