General Notes: Husband - Charles Henry Dale

He received his early education in the public and private schools of the city of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This was supplemented by four years at Pennsylvania College, Gettysburg. After leaving college, he spent a short time in business in the city of St. Louis, Missouri, and then came to Franklin, Pennsylvania, in 1848, where he engaged in merchandising and afterwards in teaching. In 1860, he was elected county superintendent of schools for Venango County, which office he held for four successive terms, or twelve years. [HVC 1879, 482]

She and her sister Sally Dorothy Reeder, were the first two graduates of the Edinboro Normal school after it came under state control, they having been the only members of their class, and both afterward taught in the institution for a number of years.
