He was educated in the com­mon and select schools and resided on the homestead until 1893, on April 18th of which year he embarked in the general merchandise business at Oakland. He served two terms as school director of Mahoning township, and was a man ever ready to do his share toward the welfare of his fellow citizens. In poli­tics he was a Democrat.
