He received his primary education in the public schools of Washington County, PA, subsequently attended McDonald Academy, and Westminister College, New Wilmington, Lawrence County, and finally entered Allegheny Theological College. He was ordained June 29, 1890, but took charge of the Glade Run church [Butler County?] May 18, of the same year.
