He was educated in the schools of Hanover Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, and at Westminster College, graduating from that institution in 1898. He became associated with the Guarantee Title and Trust Company of Pittsburgh and after a period of five years with that corporation, went to the Union Fidelity Title Insurance Company of Pittsburgh.
