She began her career in 1890 when she began teaching in Rockland. A year later she became a teacher in the Franklin School District. She taught for thirty-eight years, thirty-seven of those years as a teacher at the Union School. She was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church in Franklin. [DKM, 36]
