In 1853 he went from Pennsylvania to Iowa, where he remained nearly two years, and there his eldest son was born. In 1855 he returned to Cambridge, Crawford County, living there till 1871, when he purchased a farm on which he then resided. He is a member of the Knights of Honor. Has held various township offices; in politics is a Democrat.
