General Notes: Husband - Thomas McFarland

His Scotch and English ancestors, on account of religious persecution, fled from Scotland, taking refuge in County Down, Ireland, and changing their name from "Stewart" to McFarland, "Son in a far land."

He and his wife settled in Ligonier, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, about the time of the Revolutionary war, making their home a mile and a half from town on the hill overlooking the immediate valley. It was later owned by the heirs of Joseph Fry, and part of the log house in which their son, John, was born was still standing as late as 1906.

General Notes: Wife - Hannah Dinsmore

from County Antrim, Ireland

She was the daughter of a fuller of cloth who operated a fulling mill.
