General Notes: Husband - John Watson Rankin


He was a farmer. He served in the Civil war in Company C, 126th P. V. I, Gen. E. B. Tyler's brigade, Gen. Humphrey's Corps, and was in following engagements: Reconnaissance at Shepherdstown, Oct. 16 and 17, 1862; Battle of Fredericksburg, Dec. 13, 1862; five days battle at Chancellorsville, commencing May 1, 1863. He was honorably discharged on May 20, 1863.
