General Notes: Husband - John W. Dunkle

He attended the common schools of his native town, and was also a pupil of the Edinboro State Normal School. He taught a district school for five winters and a select school two terms. He then began his law studies at the Michigan University and graduated with the class of 1880. During the winter of 1880-1881, he again taught school and then began the practice of his chosen profession in North Clarendon, Warren County, Pennsylvania, remaining in that town until November 30, 1887. Mr. Dunkle was elected district attorney in the fall of 1887, and the acceptance of this office necessitated his removal to Warren, the county-seat. He held that office for nine successive years, being re-elected in 1890 and 1893. Politically Mr. Dunkle was an active Republican and always took a deep interest in the politics of the county. While a resident of North Clarendon he served as burgess, and chairman of the Republican county committee in 1889 and 1892. He was attorney of the Conewango Building & Loan Association beginning from its organization in 1894.

He was U. S. district attorney at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for many years.
