General Notes: Husband - Solomon Irons

He was a native of Ireland, came to America at the age of fifteen years and finally settled near Noblestown, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where he married. He and his wife had seven sons and five daughters. He came to Hopewell township, Beaver County, and bought 100 acres of land, to which he added by subsequent purchase. He was a prominent member of the Seceder's church. [HBC 1888, 854]

He came to Hopewell township, Beaver County, in 1807, and with his father-in-law bought 300 acres of land, of which he retained 200 acres.

William Irons, his father, was born in Ireland, and emigrated to America prior to 1800. Solomon Irons was born in the state of Pennsylvania. [GPHBC, 984]

He was the pioneer of this branch of the Irons family in Beaver County. There were three brothers, one settled back of Economy, Pennsylvania, and the third settled in Ohio, where some of his descendants still live. Solomon settled near where Woodlawn is, on the south side of the Ohio river in Beaver County, which was then known as Logstown. It was formerly a very noted part of the Indian reservation. It is thought that he was a soldier in the Revolutionary army [sic]. [GPHBC, 1071] Other sources give dates for him that make this last item impossible.

Three brothers, Solomon, Samuel and George, came to this country from County Derry, Ireland. They were sons of a very wealthy man who held ninety-nine year leases on considerable property.
He settled in Washington County, Pennsylvania, in 1771, and moved to Beaver County about the year 1800, taking up several hundred acres of wild land, which was almost virgin forest, and traversed by few roads. He made a clearing and built a log house and barn, becoming a very successful farmer. Religiously, he was a member of the United Presbyterian church. [BOBBC, 355]
