General Notes: Husband - Rev. Cyrus Dickson, D.D.

He graduated at Jefferson College in 1837. His theological studies were pursued privately. He was licensed to preach the gospel by the Presbytery of Erie, October 13, 1839, and ordained by the same Presbytery, June 24, 1840, and installed as pastor of the churches of Franklin and Sugar Creek. From the latter church he was dismissed January 1, 1846, and from the former, March, 1848. At the latter date he was dismissed from the Presbytery of Erie, to that of Washington. From 1848 to 1856, he was pastor of the Second Church, Wheeling, West Virginia, when he was transferred to the pastorate of West-minster Church, Baltimore, Md. [HVC 1879, 195]

He entered the Erie Academy April 17, 1832, and Jeffer-son College, Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania, in November of that year, gradu-ating in 1837. His theological studies were pursued privately. October 13, 1839, he was licensed to preach by the Presbytery of Erie, and on June 24th of the following year he was ordained and installed as pastor of the churches of Franklin and Sugar Creek, continuing in this relation with the former until March, 1848. He was pastor of the Second Presbyterian church of Wheeling, West Virginia, from 1848 to 1856, and of the West-minister church, of Baltimore, from 1856 until 1870, when he became sec-retary of the Board of Home Missions of the Presbyterian Church, of which position he performed the duties most efficiently ten years. Memorial services of an appropriate character were held at Franklin on Sunday morning, the 25th of that month, at which the Reverend S. J. M. Eaton, D. D., delivered an address in fitting tribute to the character of the deceased, his services to the church and to the mis-sionary cause, his usefulness and energy in the promotion of humanitarian and benevolent objects, and his fidelity to the many responsible duties with which his life was occupied.
