General Notes: Husband - William Hays, Sr.

Sandy Creek/Victory Twp, Venango Co, PA

He was born in Ireland, and emigrated to America in 1772. He located in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He came to Venango County in 1794, settled on a tract of land located on Big Sandy creek about two miles below the location of Waterloo. He remained there two years, then returned to West­moreland County, and brought his family to his new home in Venango County, in 1796, traveling the distance on horseback. He continued clearing and improving his land, making farming his vocation. He later moved to Sugar Creek Township, where he died.
