General Notes: Husband - Lewis Detrich

A native of Germany, he came to America and was a drummer during the Revolutionary war, in the patriot army. At the termination of that struggle he settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where some of his children were born. He moved to Franklin County, about one mile north of Greencastle, some time previous to 1800. He lived for many years about half way between Greencastle and St. Thomas, on Back Creek, where he died.

He was a thoroughly educated German scholar. He was not a member of any church, being very liberal in his religious views, and none of his family up to his death belonged to any church. They afterward, however, nearly all became members of the Reformed Church.

He and his wife had thirteen children; the Detrichs of Franklin County, Pennsylvania, with few exceptions, spring from this couple.

General Notes: Wife - Julia Anne Gushard

She was a remarkably resolute woman, and when eighty years old walked nine miles to visit her children, wading the creeks on the way.
