HOWARD G. DEMPSEY
Howard Glenn Dempsey, 58, of 5851 38th Ave., North, St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Venango County, died suddenly Saturday after being stricken ill in his
home.
Born in Franklin on Jan. 15, 1925, he was a son of Marie Heckathorne Dempsey and the late John M. Dempsey. He was graduated from Franklin High School in 1943. He then entered military service, with duty during World War II.
After his discharge he started work as a craneman for Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp., Oil City, being employed there 36 years. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1980 and had worked as a driver for the Pinellas Association for Retarded Children after moving south.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oil City.
Surviving are his wife, the former Violet Williams, two sons, Dennis Blauser of Los Angeles, Calif., and Kevin Dempsey of Clearwater, Fla.; three daughters, Linda Hildebrand, Kim Dempsey and Karen Greene, all of San Francisco, Calif,; his mother, Marie Dempsey of Oil City; two brothers, Roy Dempsey of Oil City and Jack Dempsey of Chicago, Ill., and three grandchildren.
Arrangements are in charge of the Bobbitt Funeral Chapel, St. Petersburg, Fla.
Friends are being received there today and the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with burial in St. Petersburg.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Pinellas Association for Retarded Children, 3100 75th St. North, St. Petersburg, Fla. 33710.
