General Notes: Husband - Daniel Marion Delo

He was educated in the public schools, was his father's assistant in youth, and after the death of the latter bought out in 1880 the other heirs to the one hundred acres of the homestead, where he ever afterward resided. His farm consisted of one-half the old home­stead, and this he devoted to general farming purposes. He was also interested in the pro­duction of oil, operating several wells on his own farm. He organized the Salem Cream­ery Company and was a director until his death. He was a Democrat in politics and an active influential party man. He served many years in public office-holding, as supervisor, school director and justice of the peace. He took a deep in­terest in the cause of education, and as school director accomplished a great deal in behalf of the public schools. Both he and his wife were members of the Lutheran church, which he served as elder. He was an intensely loyal Union man, and on August 26, 1862, enlisted in Company G, 155th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, but contracted rheuma­tism and was honorably discharged before he had been in actual warfare. He died suddenly, being stricken with apoplexy while vis­iting his oil well pumping station.
