General Notes: Husband - Leon Welcome Aldrich

He was born in Woodcock township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, passing his early years there and in Vernon township. He received his education in the local schools, after which he became employed in the lumber business in which he continued until the fall of 1908. He then entered the Pennsylvania Institute of Embalming and Sanitary Science, fitting himself for his future profession. He was graduated from the institute with the highest honors ever received by any of its students. Locating in Meadville, he purchased the Aldrich Block, No. 851 Market street, and established himself in business as a funeral director with finely equipped offices and an able assistant. His license to do business covered both the states of Pennsylvania and Ohio. He was a member of the local, State, and National Funeral Directors associations, and became one of the leading citizens in Meadville. In politics he was an Independent, voting for the man whom he considers best qualified for the office. He owned the old Aldrich homestead in Vernon township which he made his summer residence. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Meadville.
