General Notes: Husband - Mackall Dawson

He spent his early life in the vicinity of his birthplace, attended the public schools, and worked on the home farm. After his marriage he settled on a farm owned by his father near Ohioville, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, and there remained for eight years, living for two more years on a near-by farm. He then entered the oil business and was a producer at Smiths Ferry for a period covering twenty years. His ventures in this industry were rewarded with remunerative success and he amassed a comfortable competence. In 1890 he moved to Brighton township, residing there for but a short time before he went to Darlington township, purchasing a farm of sixty-five acres in the southeast corner of the township, where he lived until his death. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian Church, and his political faith was strongly Republican.
