He attended public schools in South Beaver township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, teaching in the public schools from 1891 to 1895. He attended Ohio State university school of medicine from 1895 to 1898, graduating Apr. 5, 1898. He then practised medicine in New Waterford, Ohio, for a number of years. He married and resided at East Rochester, Ohio, where had a fine medical practice.
