He was probably born at Bennefield, Northamptonshire, England. He came over in 1634 with his brother-in-law, Major Simon Willard, settling at Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1635, but removing before the end of the year. He had land at Concord and Duxbury in 1640; was at Scituate in 1641; went to Barnstable in 1639, and to Concord in 1655. He was a carpenter.
