General Notes: Husband - Oliver David

He and his wife took up their abode in Middlesex township, Butler County, PA, where he engaged in farm­ing, also carried on a tannery until his removal to Butler, about 1832. Soon after locating in Butler he entered on a successful mercantile career that lasted about a quarter century. Both he and his wife were leading members of the Presbyterian church of Butler. He was an industrious, careful and economical man, who devoted his en­tire attention to his business affairs. He was strictly honest in all his dealings, possessed a character of great firmness and decision, and was quite remarkable for his self control.
