The public schools of the township furnished him with his educational advantages, and he became a farmer. He learned farming practically as an assistant to his father, and in later years purchased his own farm. He erected a fine barn on his land, set out an orchard, and in addition to general farming, gave a good deal of attention to dairy farming. His home was near Bakerstown.
