General Notes: Husband - Alexander Seaman

He received his education at the subscription schools of Washington, Pennsylvania. He was brought up to the trade of mason, which he followed in early life, but abandoned for mercantile pursuits. About the year 1849 he opened a grocery store in Washington, which he carried on for several years with considerable success.
Until 1860 he was a Democrat, but after that date voted under the banner of the Republican party.

He and his wife were the parents of five children; three grew to maturity.
