General Notes: Husband - John Wesley Alcorn


He enlisted on Sept. 8, 1862, in the Union Army and was taken prisoner at Brandy Station, Culpepper, Virginia, after a fierce battle in which Union Generals Kilpatrick and Custer bravely led their surrounded cavalry against Stuart's Confederate Cavalry. He died of scorbutus and diarrhea on Sept. 18, 1864, in the Confederate prison at Andersonville, Georgia, and is buried in Andersonville National Cemetery in grave #9150, Section H.
