General Notes: Husband - Thomas Daft

He was a native of England, coming to the United States when a young man, landing in New Orleans. He was a descendant of a very wealthy family and had inherited a fortune in his own right, and had never performed labor of any kind. Proceeding northward to Pittsburgh, he took up his residence on Stevenson street, investing in a great deal of property in that place. Two of his sisters lived in Newark, New Jersey, and there died unmarried, one, Aleva, in 1879, aged one hundred and four years, she and her sister having been close friends of the family of ex-President Roosevelt.

He was alderman of the 8th Ward of Pittsburgh in 1845.
