General Notes: Husband - Thomas O. Cunningham

He was born in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, and came to Waynesboro, Franklin County, in 1847, prior to his marriage. Coming to the city, just after he left school, he began his business career as a clerk in the employ of W. F. Anderson, and later, when the house became Anderson, Benedict & Co., he was the "Co." This partnership continued until 1881, when he went into the grocery business, and thus continued until 1900, when he sold his interests. While in the store he was also a notary public. For some years he was a member of the borough council, and took an active part in the development of Waynesboro. Fraternally he was a member of the Masonic fraternity, having joined at Hagerstown, Maryland, but transferred to the Waynesboro lodge. His religious home was in the Presbyterian Church, toward which he always gave liberal support.
