General Notes: Husband - John Bennett Cunningham

He attended the local public schools, and later took a special course in a business college. He was engaged in the mercantile business in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, under his own name for a number of years. In 1902 he entered the Citizens' Bank at Fayette City, as assistant cashier, and after three years in this capacity, went with the Valley-Deposit and Trust Company in Belle Vernon, where he remained until 1911, when he became cashier of the First National Bank of Irwin. This bank, which was one of the oldest in the vicinity, was established in 1892, and had a prosperous career until 1907, when a series of reverses wiped out a surplus of $75,000. A reorganization then took place, and after that time the bank had a remarkable growth and success.
Mr. Cunningham was a director of the Irwin Savings and Trust Company, in Irwin, Pennsylvania, and also of the Equitable Building and Loan Association, in Irwin. He was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club, of Irwin; a member of Lodge No. 615, Free and Accepted Masons, of Charleroi, Pennsylvania; and an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, in which he served as an elder. By political affiliations he was Republican.
