General Notes: Husband - Josiah Jehosephat Culbertson


Of Scotch-Irish descent, he came to America with a number of relatives, and settled at a place which they named Edinboro, Pennsylvania. He obtained a grant of a large tract of land, a part of which he cleared and farmed, and he was also engaged in business as a merchant. He also followed the tailor's trade with considerable success. He was a prominent and influential man in the community, was active in the organization of the Presbyterian church, and was one of the first trustees of the Edinboro State Normal School.
