He was appointed Lieut. of Sixth Co., State Militia, 73d Regt., Aug. 1800; Capt. of Sixth Co., Pa. Militia (73rd) Regt., Aug. 3, 1803; Lieut. Col. of 73d Regt. Pa. Militia, Aug. 3, 1807; Brigade Major, Aug. 3, 1811. His regiment was preparing to march to Baltimore when they were notified their services would not be needed [War of 1812]. He was appointed Justice of Peace, of Greene Township, in 1813. He also held other offices of trust.
