General Notes: Wife - Elizabeth Jane Whitehill


She was educated in the State normal schools of Pennsylvania. Was a teacher by profession. Spent three years in Iowa (1867-1870) with her mother's people (Thompsons). Began her work as a teacher there, her first school was in Benton City, Benton County, Iowa. Returning to Pennsylvania in 187o she resumed her pro­fessional work. Taught in Cranberry, Sinerly [Siverly?]and Oleopolis, all in Venango County, Penn­sylvania.
After the death of her husband, she resumed her pro­fession and taught in the schools of Pennsyl­vania for twenty-five years, the last three years in Allegheny County, McKees Rocks and Ver­ona. Came to Allegheny County in 1894. Resided in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was an earnest student along all advanced lines of activities, delving into science, metaphysics, psychical re­search, and modern progression. Liberal re­ligionist (Unitarian), broad-minded and tol­erant. In 1911 was elected school visitor of 7th Ward, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, accord­ing to School Code adopted that year.
