General Notes: Husband - R. J. Edie


He was educated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and commenced in the world as a bill-clerk in the wholesale dry-goods house of Arbuthnot & Shannon, in that city. From there he went to Texas and spent four years on the frontier, moving thence to St. Louis, Missouri, where, for two years, he was book-keeper in a large wholesale dry-goods house. Returning to Pittsburgh, he served for a time as teller in the Penn Bank, and later was employed by the P. & L. E. R. R. Co. as paymaster. In March, 1886, Mr. Edie came to McKeesport, where he thereafter resided, occupying the position of teller in the First National Bank, and attending also to the duties of treasurer of the New Enterprise Building and Loan association, to which office he was chosen when that association was formed.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church; a member of the R. A., and was a democrat.
