General Notes: Husband - Frederick Cooper Leighty


He was educated in the public school (Eagle school) and grew to manhood on the home farm, continuing as his father's assistant until the spring of 1898, when he married and settled on a farm of one hundred and twenty-eight acres which he had purchased three years previous. later he added forty-one acres to his original purchase, erected new buildings, and brought the property to a condition of modern improvements. He devoted his acres to general farming and stock raising. He was a director of the Dunn Coke Company, and a stockholder of the Union National Bank of Connellsville. He was a Republican in politics, but never sought or held public office. He was a member with his wife of the Cumberland Presbyterian church and of the Patrons of Husbandry Grange.
