He was a native of eastern Pennsylvania and settled near Pleasant Unity, in Unity town-ship, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he died. He purchased a farm of one hundred and fifty acres of land which was later owned by a Mr. Summers. He was a Lutheran, a whig in politics.
