General Notes: Husband - George Lewis Patterson


He was born at New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, where he attended the public schools, afterwards taking the course in the liberal arts of Lehigh and Princeton universities. He then entered the employ of the National Bank of Lawrence County, of which his father, William Patterson, was president, and he served through the various grades of that bank including the position of clerk, teller, assistant cashier, and he was made vice-president in 1906. He was also vice-president of the Safe Deposit and Trust Company of Lawrence County, and vice-president of the Mahoning Trust Company; also a member of the board of directors of the Consolidated Stone and Mining Company, of New Castle. A Republican in his political convictions, he supported the principles of that party by his vote and influence. During the first World War, Mr. Patterson gave of his talents and his financial aid to the various projects and drives of the period, and he received the certificate of "four-minute" speaker for his district. His fraternal affiliations were with New Castle Lodge, No. 642, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons; Valley of New Castle Consistory, thirty-second degree, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite; and Syria Temple, Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine; also of the Royal Jesters, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He was a member of the Princeton Club of Pittsburgh, and the Duquesne Club, of Pittsburgh. He was president of the New Castle Board of Trade for three years, and was also a director in the Pennsylvania State Chamber of Commerce. His religious faith was that of the Presbyterian Church.
