General Notes: Husband - Capt. William Elliott

He came into Fayette County, Pennsylvania, from Westmoreland County at an early day, and had what came to be called "the old Elliott homestead," in Jefferson township, patented.

He and his wife removed at an early day from Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and settled near Brownsville, (Fayette County?) Pennsylvania.

Of English and Scotch-Irish origin, he was a pioneer settler in Jefferson township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He served as an officer in the Revolutionary war, and organized the first military company of his section of Fayette county on his farm about one-half mile from the site of the Little Redstone Presbyterian church.

He and his wife had eleven children. James was the fifth child and only son who grew to manhood.
